Eric Lawes

Eric (Ric) Lawes is a medical doctor specializing in Anesthesiology.

He also has a background in law and medical ethics. He has held numerous substantive senior consultant positions including being a Consultant Anesthesiologist at the University Hospital Southampton. He is also a consultant at Spire Hospitals in Southampton and Wessex Nuffield Hospital Chandlers Ford. He has served as an honorary lecturer at the University of Southampton Biomedical Sciences. He graduated with an MBBS from King’s College and St George’s Hospital Medical School, London University in 1976.

He holds a certificate of specialist training from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, London in 1985. In 2011, he obtained a master’s degree in medical law and ethics from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. In addition to numerous publications in learned journals, his current research interests include investigation of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) and developing anesthesia services in emergent economies.
